so we went on this little adventurous trip to see pearl jam and, on a site note, also visit the country of our ancestors: poland.
ok, my sister had already been there, but not me.
the trip to katowice was great, the music marvellous (what else would one have expected?) and the lack of sleep tiring. it’s much harder to make up my mind about the country … people there are warm, friendly and openhearted (deduced from the few thousands i “met” there), the country itself is “nice”, the rural areas reminded me of scotland. though i didn’t see any sheep. place and people seem to be a little back in time … so many nice houses in such a bad state, it’s a shame.
before pearl jam entered the stage, there were three bands for warming up (not necessary considering the weather and the obvious anticipation): we might never find out about the first one; the second one, a polish band, presented the most horrible performance we had encountered in quite a while (if not ever) – and the third one was linkin park. quite a surprise, a funny one.
pearl jam performed a great deal of older songs, it was a great show.
as usual, eddie directed some words in polish to the audience, obviously containing a message like “fuck techno” (a nice polish girl told me).
don’t call me crazy for travelling to see pearl jam, that night there was this guy, just seeing his 100th show there, he’s seen pearl jam in 26 countries. seems like eddie granted him a request and he went for whipping. good choice.
and rather blurry photos …
not easy to stay calm and take photos. thanks to my sis anyway! :-)
these ones were taken with my mobile phone’s cam:
the ones taken from the screen are a little more accurate.
and here’s the stage design – without a mirrorball that obviously got screwed up by some americans …
